CHANL instrumentation and equipment may be reserved through the CHANL instrument and equipment scheduler.

First time using this system?

If you have never used this calendar system before, you must first sign up for the calendar service. (You will be prompted to enter your onyen and password to sign up).  After you have signed in, navigate to the Calendar Service and click the button beside it to sign up for the service.  (If you have already subscribed to the service it will appear in the list of subscribed services at the top of the page.)

Once you have subscribed to the calendar service

Now you may access the CHANL instrument and equipment scheduler.  Choose an instrument from the list at the top of the page to view it's schedule.  You will then need to enter your onyen and password to view the calendar.

 

To schedule time on our instruments, click on the (+) next to the time you want, then enter your name in the Title field and the amount of time you need.  Your name should then appear on the calendar for that block of time.  If you need to change your schdule, just click on your name for that block of time and make any edits you need to it.

 
Accessing CHANL Equipment PDF Print E-mail
Researchers wishing to gain access to CHANL equipment will need to complete a safety training course, and attend a training session(s) for the instrumentation they wish to use. Follow the steps below to become trained and gain access to the instrumentation.

Non-UNC users should contact CHANL for access procedures.

  1. All lab personnel are required to complete the UNC Laboratory Orientation and Managing Hazardous Waste class. (http://ehs.unc.edu/training/lab/lab.shtml).  All students and staff working in a laboratory setting are required to attend this class before performing experiments (you should have done this when you joined a research group).
  2. Fill out the CHANL access form , and obtain your advisor’s signature.
  3. Contact CHANL to discuss the experiments you wish to do, and to schedule instrument training time.
  4. Attend instrument training, and receive approval for instrument usage.

Approved UNC users will be given access to the lab 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
